Bella's Story
I currently work as a psychometrist and am an aspiring Licensed Professional Counselor, enrolled in Monmouth University’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. I have a strong passion for supporting people of all ages as they navigate life’s challenges, and I am especially drawn to working with individuals who have experienced trauma—stories that deserve to be heard with care, patience, and compassion.
The therapeutic approach I am developing blends traditional talk therapy with creative and expressive techniques such as play, drama, and art. I’m deeply curious about how past experiences and unconscious patterns influence present struggles, and I work gently to help clients explore these layers at their own pace. I plan to incorporate skills from various behavioral therapies while fostering motivation, empowerment, and hope to strengthen coping skills and support meaningful change. I am completing my master’s degree with a concentration in play therapy, with the goal of becoming a Registered Play Therapist and furthering my education in trauma- and PTSD-focused modalities.
I have been drawn to helping others since childhood and decided as a teenager that I wanted to become a mental health counselor—a passion that has only grown stronger over time. I began working as a psychometrist at Modern Psychiatry in February 2025, and it has been one of the most fulfilling opportunities of my career. Through this role, I have expanded my knowledge of neurodevelopmental conditions such as ADHD and autism, and I am passionate about identifying the root causes of psychological experiences to help clients move toward growth and understanding.
During testing, I focus on creating a comfortable and supportive environment through conversation, empathy, and active listening. When testing feels challenging, I meet clients where they are—sometimes offering encouragement, reframing the experience, or simply being a steady presence. I believe the client is the expert on their own brain; my role is to provide the tools needed to gather meaningful data.
As Marsha Linehan reminds us, every life is worth living—it’s what we add to our lives that helps us feel that truth. Whether testing is a first step or one of many, everyone comes with a unique story. What matters most is the willingness to keep moving forward, and I’m honored to be part of that process.
Outside of my work in mental health, I enjoy hiking local trails, weight lifting, collaging, crafting, crocheting, and trying DIY projects. I love cooking, exploring new restaurants, spending time with my cats, playing video games, and continuously learning about new topics. Most of all, I value spending time with family and friends.
